Target Information
The protein encoded by the KIF23 gene is a member of the kinesin-like protein family. These proteins function as microtubule-dependent molecular motors that transport organelles within cells and move chromosomes during cell division. KIF23 cross-bridges antiparallel microtubules and drives microtubule movement in vitro. Alternate splicing results in two transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
