MC1R (Melanocortin 1 Receptor)는 멜라노사이트 자극 호르몬(MSH)과 부신피질자극호르몬(ACTH)의 작용을 매개하는 수용체입니다. MSH와 MC1R은 멜라닌 생성의 주요 조절자로, 피부 내 적색 페오멜라닌과 흑색 유멜라닌의 비율을 조절합니다. 비활성 또는 절단된 형태의 수용체는 밝은 털색을 유도하며, 반대로 지속적으로 활성화된 수용체는 어두운 색을 유도합니다.
