Target Information
Hemopexin is a serum glycoprotein that binds heme and transports it to the liver for breakdown and iron recovery. After processing, free hemopexin returns to circulation. Structurally, hemopexin consists of two similar halves (~200 amino acids each) connected by a histidine-rich hinge region. Each half is formed by repetition of a basic unit of 35–45 residues.
