Product Specific Information
The monoclonal antibody CC1 recognizes CD66a, also known as carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 1 (CEACAM1), biliary glycoprotein, and BPG. CD66a is expressed on brush borders, epithelial, and endothelial cells. In hematopoietic cells, it is abundantly expressed on B cells, some NK cells, monocytes, DCs, and granulocytes.
In humans, CD66a expression levels have been associated with malignancies and play a regulatory role in BCR activation of B lymphocytes. The CC1 antibody does not stain SJL mouse tissue due to expression of the alternate allele CEACAM1b. CC1 has been shown to block viral infection and enhance B cell proliferation when combined with IgM crosslinking.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes at ≤0.06 µg/test. A test is defined as the amount of antibody staining a cell sample (10⁵–10⁸ cells) in 100 µL volume. Optimal titration recommended.
Excitation/Emission: 488–561 nm / 578 nm (Blue, Green, Yellow-Green Laser).
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Target Information
CEACAM1 belongs to the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) gene family within the immunoglobulin superfamily. The CEA cell adhesion molecules and pregnancy-specific glycoproteins are located on chromosome 19. The encoded protein, originally described as biliary glycoprotein, mediates cell-cell adhesion and contributes to differentiation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and immune modulation. Multiple transcript variants exist, with two full-length isoforms characterized.
