Target Information
HIF-2 alpha (Epas1) is a transcription factor involved in the induction of oxygen-regulated genes.
It contains a basic-helix-loop-helix domain and a dimerization domain, functioning in oxygen-sensing signal transduction pathways.
HIF-2α regulates VEGF expression and contributes to blood vessel development and lung tubular system formation.
Mutations in this gene are associated with erythrocytosis familial type 4.
