The PA5-16318 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal region of human COX-1.
Target Information
PTGS1 (COX1, Cyclooxygenase 1) is the key enzyme in prostaglandin biosynthesis, functioning both as a dioxygenase and a peroxidase. There are two PTGS isozymes: constitutive PTGS1 and inducible PTGS2, differing in regulation and tissue distribution.
PTGS1 regulates angiogenesis in endothelial cells and is inhibited by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin. It plays a role in cell-cell signaling and maintaining tissue homeostasis.
Alternative splicing of this gene produces two transcript variants, whose expression is differentially regulated by cytokines and growth factors.
