TAF42 (SPT3-associated factor 42), also known as TADA1 (transcriptional adapter 1), ADA1, HFI1 or hADA1, is a 335 amino acid nuclear protein belonging to the TADA1 family. As a component of the STAGA transcription coactivator-HAT complex, STAF42 is involved in transcriptional regulation.
The gene encoding STAF42 maps to human chromosome 1, which spans 260 million base pairs, contains over 3,000 genes, and comprises nearly 8% of the human genome. Chromosome 1 includes several disease-associated genes related to familial adenomatous polyposis, Stickler syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, Gaucher disease, schizophrenia, and Usher syndrome. Aberrations in chromosome 1 are found in various cancers, including head and neck cancer, malignant melanoma, and multiple myeloma. - Predicted Reactivity: Rabbit, Goat, Horse, Guinea pig, Dog, Pig, Rhesus monkey, Orangutan, and Elephant (based on sequence homology).
