Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

Anti-Avidin Antibody Fluorescein Conjugated is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion exchange chromatography followed by extensive dialysis against the buffer stated above. Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-fluorescein, anti-Rabbit Serum, and Avidin.

Target Information

Avidin from chicken egg whites is a glycoprotein that effectively binds biotin, a tag frequently used in immunodetection methods. This protein contains four identical subunits with a combined molecular mass of 67,000–68,000 daltons. Each subunit binds one molecule of biotin, involving tryptophan and lysine residues in the binding site. The subunit consists of 128 amino acids, has an isoelectric point of 10–10.5, and is highly soluble in water and salt solutions. Avidin is stable over a wide range of pH and temperature, and chemical modifications have little effect on its activity, making it useful for detection and protein purification. Pure avidin is a key component in certain IHC methods, and enzyme conjugates such as alkaline phosphatase (AP) and horseradish peroxidase (HRP) versions are useful for Western blotting or ELISA detection.
