IGF-BPs control the distribution, function, and activity of IGFs in various cell tissues and body fluids.
IGF-BP6 specifically inhibits IGF-II actions and is produced by bone cells. It is the major IGF-BP present in cerebrospinal fluid and has been shown to inhibit IGF-II-dependent cancers such as neuroblastoma, colon cancer, and rhabdomyosarcoma.
