MA0200 targets CD2 in FACS, IA, IP, and WB applications and shows reactivity with human samples.
This antibody does not react with rat tissue in Western blot applications.
The MA0200 immunogen is human LFA-2 (CD2).
MA0200 detects CD2 with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 37 kDa.
This product has been tested for endotoxins by limulus amoebocyte lysate (LAL) assay and contains an endotoxin concentration ≤10 EU/mg.

Target Information

CD2 (LFA-2) is a monomeric surface antigen (MW range 45–58 kDa) of the human T-lymphocyte lineage, expressed on nearly all peripheral blood T cells.
It is one of the earliest T-cell markers, present on >95% of thymocytes, and also found on some NK cells but not on B lymphocytes.
Monoclonal antibodies against CD2 inhibit rosette formation with sheep erythrocytes, indicating CD2’s role as or association with the erythrocyte receptor.
CD2 interacts with CD58 to stabilize adhesion between T cells and antigen-presenting or target cells.
Although the affinity of CD2-CD58 interaction is relatively low in solution, it is compensated by tight adhesion in cell-cell interfaces.
T cell activation increases CD2 expression and mobility, enhancing contact with CD58 and strengthening intercellular adhesion.
CD2 deficiency reduces intestinal inflammation and aids infection control.
Diseases associated with CD2 dysfunction include penis squamous cell carcinoma and immune deficiency due to thymus absence.
