Target Information

The CD3 subunit complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals into the cytoplasm of T cells and regulating surface expression of the TCR complex.
Activation through the TCR involves CD3 gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta subunits, which are members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded on chromosome 11.
These subunits have long cytoplasmic tails that associate with signal transduction molecules through a double tyrosine-based motif.
CD3 is expressed on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes, 65–85% of thymocytes, and Purkinje cells in the cerebellum, but not on B or NK cells.
Decreased T lymphocyte percentages may be observed in autoimmune diseases.
Defects in CD3 genes are associated with CD3 immunodeficiency.
