Target Information
TRIM25, also known as estrogen responsive finger protein (EFP), is a member of the RING finger-B box-coiled coil family and a downstream target of the estrogen receptor α. Mice lacking this gene exhibit an underdeveloped uterus and reduced estrogen responsiveness, indicating its essential role in estrogen-dependent proliferation.
TRIM25 expression is elevated in breast carcinoma, promoting tumor growth by acting as an E3 ubiquitin ligase targeting the negative cell cycle checkpoint protein 14-3-3σ.
Recent studies show that TRIM25 E3 ubiquitin ligase activity is crucial for the retinoic-acid-inducible gene 1 (RIG-1) signaling pathway, which mediates host antiviral innate immunity.
