Target Information
Thrombomodulin (TM), also known as Fetomodulin (FM), endothelial anticoagulant protein, or glycoprotein P112, contains six repeated domains homologous with epidermal growth factor (EGF) and an amino-terminal domain homologous to lectin-like protein. TM plays a key role in maintaining thrombo-resistance by accelerating the activation of protein C, thereby reducing clot formation on endothelial cell surfaces. Immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed tissues for TM is used in studies of vascular tumors, meningiomas, and choriocarcinomas.
