Target Information

IKBKE (IKK epsilon) is an activator of nuclear factor-kappa-B (NF-κB). Overexpression has been observed in breast cancer cells, and suppression induces cell death. NF-κB is a key transcription factor mediating immune and inflammatory responses.
IKK epsilon is part of the IKK complex (IKK-α, IKK-β, IKK-γ) and is required for NF-κB activation by PMA and T cell receptors but not by TNF-α or IL-1. Expression of IKK-iota/IKK-i is inducible by TNF-α, IL-1, and LPS.
