Aurora kinase는 염색체 이동 및 분리 동안 미세소관과 결합하는 효소군으로, AURKB (Aurora B)는 키네토코어 근처 미세소관(K-fibers)에 위치합니다. 이 복합체는 염색체 정렬 및 분리, 히스톤 변형, 세포질 분열(cytokinesis)에 관여합니다. CPC(Chromosomal Passenger Complex)는 INCENP, survivin, borealin 등의 비효소성 소단위체를 포함하며, 이들은 Aurora B의 활성, 위치, 안정성 및 기질 특이성에 영향을 미칩니다.
