This antibody recognizes PRMT5 (Protein arginine N-methyltransferase 5). It binds to a folded domain corresponding to amino acids 269–637.
PRMT5 is an arginine methyltransferase that catalyzes the formation of omega-N monomethylarginine (MMA) and symmetrical dimethylarginine (sDMA), with a preference for MMA formation.
Target Information
PRMT5 (protein arginine N-methyltransferase 5) mediates symmetrical dimethylation of arginine residues in small nuclear ribonucleoproteins Sm D1 and Sm D3.
This methylation is essential for the assembly and biogenesis of snRNP core particles.
PRMT5 functions as an arginine methyltransferase catalyzing MMA and sDMA formation, preferentially producing MMA.
