BMPR1B (also known as ALK6, CDw293) is a member of the transmembrane serine/threonine kinase family and part of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) receptor group, closely related to activin receptors ACVR1 and ACVR2.
It plays a key role in endochondral bone formation and embryogenesis. BMPR1B is expressed in normal and cancerous prostate tissues and is associated with endocrine therapy for prostate cancer.
Additionally, BMPR1B receptor trafficking is significant in FOP pathogenesis and human T-cell differentiation.
