Description:
The DL-101 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD138 (syndecan-1), a transmembrane proteoglycan containing chondroitin sulfate and heparin sulfate moieties that mediate binding to extracellular matrix components. CD138 is absent in mature B cells but expressed in pre-B and plasma cells.
Applications Reported:
Reported for use in flow cytometry and immunohistochemical staining of frozen tissue sections.
Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of cell lines. Recommended ≤1 µg per test (in 100 µL final volume). Cell number should be optimized (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Antibody titration is recommended for optimal performance.

Target Information
CD138 (syndecan-1) is a transmembrane proteoglycan that binds cytokines and extracellular matrix components, influencing developmental and cellular processes. It is primarily expressed in differentiating keratinocytes and plasma cells, and transiently upregulated in epidermal injury. Expression changes are associated with cancer progression. Soluble CD138 (sCD138) levels serve as a prognostic marker in oncology.
