Target Information
YBX1 binds to splice sites in pre-mRNA and regulates splice site selection. It stabilizes cytoplasmic mRNA and modulates translation by interacting with eukaryotic initiation factors. YBX1 binds to promoters containing a Y-box (5'-CTGATTGGCCAA-3'), such as HLA class II genes, regulating transcription of numerous genes. It promotes separation of DNA strands containing mismatches or cisplatin modifications, exhibits endonucleolytic activity, and may contribute to DNA repair.
