Target Information
E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a classical cadherin from the cadherin (calcium-dependent adhesion protein) superfamily. This protein is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein with five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail.
Mutations in the CDH1 gene (chromosome 16) are associated with gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian cancers. Loss of E-cadherin function contributes to tumor progression by enhancing proliferation, invasion, and metastasis.
E-cadherin plays a key role in tissue architecture and integrity by regulating cell growth and adhesion.
