Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene and is located on chromosome 11 in humans. NF-kB p65, also known as RelA, belongs to the Rel family of proteins. It forms heterodimers with NF-kB subunits p50 or p52. Upon TNF alpha receptor activation, IKK phosphorylates I kB, leading to its degradation and subsequent NF-kB activation. NF-kB p65 plays a critical role in transcription of the immunoglobulin kappa gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
