Betatrophin 단백질은 간세포암 관련 단백질 TD26으로도 알려져 있으며, 지방세포와 간에서 주로 발현되는 인슐린 표적 유전자입니다. 혈중 중성지방 농도 조절을 통해 지질 대사에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. Betatrophin은 angiopoietin-like (ANGPTL) 단백질 패밀리와 밀접한 관련이 있으며, 추위 노출이나 고지방 식이 후 mRNA 발현이 증가하고, 단식 시 감소하여 열발생 및 에너지 항상성 조절에 관여할 가능성이 제시됩니다.
