Assay Information:
Immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-rabbit serum, purified and partially purified Ovalbumin (Hen Egg White).
Cross-reactivity against Ovalbumin from other tissues and species may occur but have not been specifically determined.

Target Information

Chicken ovalbumin is the major protein in the white of the egg and a common antigen in immunological research.
Egg white contains various proteins including ovalbumin, conalbumin, ovomucoid, and lysozyme.
Ovalbumin belongs to the serpin family and the Ov-serpin subfamily and can cause allergic reactions in humans.
It is implicated in eggshell development and is found in the mammillary bodies of decalcified shell, suggesting a role in the initial phase of shell formation, though its specific function in shell mineralization remains unclear.
