Target Information
YBX1 binds to splice sites in pre-mRNA and regulates splice site selection. It stabilizes cytoplasmic mRNA and modulates translation by interacting with eukaryotic initiation factors. YBX1 binds to promoters containing a Y-box (5'-CTGATTGGCCAA-3'), such as HLA class II genes, and regulates transcription of numerous genes. It promotes separation of DNA strands containing mismatches or cisplatin modifications and may play a role in DNA repair through endonucleolytic activity.
