Target Information
PRUNE2 gene (also known as BMCC1) encodes the protein prune homolog 2.
This gene overlaps with PCA3, one of the most prostate cancer–specific markers.
PRUNE2 may regulate differentiation, survival, and aggressiveness of tumor cells.
It is highly expressed in the nervous system (brain, cerebellum, spinal cord) and in several tumor cell lines such as neuroblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, melanoma, and osteosarcoma, while showing low expression in liver, breast, thyroid, and colon cancer cell lines.
The calculated molecular weight of this protein is approximately 340 kDa.
