Target Information
This gene encodes one of seven subunits of the human Arp2/3 protein complex. This subunit belongs to the SOP2 family of proteins and is most similar to ARPC1A. Both may function as the p41 subunit of the Arp2/3 complex, which is involved in actin polymerization control. The p41 subunit may assist in assembling and maintaining the Arp2/3 complex structure and adapt its function to various cell types or developmental stages. It also plays a role in centrosomal homeostasis as an activator and substrate of Aurora A kinase.
