Product Specific Information

  • Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
  • The peptide is homologous in rat and mouse.
  • Specificity: GABA(A) receptor subunit alpha-1.

Target Information

Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, causing hyperpolarization through the opening of a Cl⁻ channel associated with the GABAA receptor subtype.
GABAA receptors are key targets for sedative, anxiolytic, and hypnotic agents and are implicated in diseases such as epilepsy, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse.
The GABAA receptor is a multimeric complex composed of multiple subunits (six alphas, four betas, four gammas, plus splice variants).
Expression of alpha and beta subunits alone produces GABA-sensitive receptors, but coexpression of gamma-subunits is required for benzodiazepine modulation.
Phosphorylation of beta-subunits modulates GABAA receptor function.
