Target Information
CBX8 is a component of the Polycomb group (PcG) multiprotein PRC1-like complex, which maintains the transcriptionally repressive state of many genes, including Hox genes, during development.
The PcG PRC1 complex functions through chromatin remodeling and histone modification, mediating monoubiquitination of histone H2A at Lys-119, resulting in heritable changes in chromatin expressibility.
