Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of BAD only when phosphorylated at Ser136 of mouse BAD or Ser99 of human BAD.
Target Information
The protein encoded by BAD is a member of the BCL-2 family, which regulates programmed cell death (apoptosis). BAD promotes apoptosis by forming heterodimers with BCL-xL and BCL-2, counteracting their anti-apoptotic effects. Its proapoptotic activity is regulated by phosphorylation through kinases such as AKT and MAP kinase, and by dephosphorylation via calcineurin. Alternative splicing produces two transcript variants encoding the same isoform.
