Target Information

Skp2 (S-phase Kinase-associated Protein 2) is a member of the F-box protein family that interacts with the Cyclin A-Cdk2 complex. It is essential for the G1-S transition in both transformed cells and diploid fibroblasts.
Skp2 mediates ubiquitination and degradation of p27 in mammalian cells and in vitro assays.
In normal tissues, Skp2 is expressed in tonsil and placenta. In tumor tissues, it shows widespread expression, including colon, prostate, pancreas, and skin cancers, with high levels in lung, breast, ovarian, and endometrial cancers.
Research indicates Skp2 plays a role in oncogenesis, particularly in lymphomas and breast cancers.
