Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They comprise multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity of monoclonal antibodies, while maintaining consistent recombinant production.

These antibodies recognize multiple epitope sites, providing higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets. Each lot contains a defined population of light and heavy chains, eliminating biological variability typical of polyclonal antibodies.

Target Information

Arginase-1 (Arg1) is a 35 kDa enzyme that converts L-arginine to urea and L-ornithine, completing the urea cycle. The resulting polyamines are important for cell proliferation and detoxification. By degrading arginine, Arginase 1 limits NO synthase activity and down-regulates nitric oxide production.

In both human and mouse, Arginase 1 is expressed in the liver, neutrophils, myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs), and neural stem cells. In humans, it is expressed in blood neutrophils but not in CCR3+ granulocytes. In mice, Arginase 1 marks alternatively activated macrophages (M2a) and may be expressed in tumor-infiltrating myeloid cells, commonly found in hepatocellular carcinomas. Defects in Arginase 1 cause argininemia, an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by hyperammonemia.
