이 단백질은 FET 계열의 RNA 결합 단백질에 속하며, 유전자 발현 조절, 유전체 안정성 유지, mRNA/microRNA 처리 등 다양한 세포 과정에 관여합니다.
대체 스플라이싱에 의해 여러 전사체 변이가 생성되며, 이 유전자의 결함은 근위축성 측삭경화증(ALS) 6형과 관련이 있습니다.
