Target Information

The DDX56 gene encodes a member of the DEAD box protein family, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD). These proteins function as putative RNA helicases and are involved in various RNA-related processes such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome/spliceosome assembly.
Certain family members play roles in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cell growth/division. The DDX56 protein exhibits ATPase activity in the presence of polynucleotides and associates with nucleoplasmic 65S preribosomal particles, suggesting a role in ribosome synthesis, particularly during assembly of the large 60S ribosomal subunit.
