Exendin-4 is a 39-amino-acid peptide found in the venom of the Gila monster (Heloderma suspectum).
It belongs to the glucagon-secretin family of peptide hormones and neuropeptides.
Exendin-4 acts as a potent agonist of the GLP-1 receptor, stimulating insulin secretion.
