This 8CH monoclonal antibody reacts with human IL-8 (CXCL8), a pro-inflammatory CXC chemokine. IL-8 is synthesized as a 99 amino acid precursor protein processed into isoforms, mainly 72 or 77 amino acids. IL-8(77) is secreted by endothelial cells and mediates angiogenesis during fetal development, while IL-8(72) predominates in adults, promoting neutrophil activation and migration during inflammation.
Signaling occurs through CXCR1 and CXCR2 receptors. IL-8 expression is often elevated in tumors and contributes to angiogenesis and metastasis.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-diluted and tested using Protocol A for intracellular proteins.
Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test (100 µL final volume).
Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test (empirically determined).
Excitation: 488–561 nm; Emission: 578 nm; Laser: Blue, Green, Yellow-Green.

Target Information

Interleukin 8 (IL-8, CXCL8) is a 72 amino acid pro-inflammatory chemokine of the CXC family. It binds IL-8RA and IL-8RB receptors and acts as a chemoattractant and angiogenic factor. IL-8 expression is induced by inflammatory stimuli in macrophages and endothelial cells, stored in Weibel-Palade bodies.
It contains the ELR motif (Glu-Leu-Arg) and signals through CXCR1 and CXCR2.
Previous names include NAP-1, GCP-1, MONAP, and protein 3-10C.
Located on chromosome 4q, IL-8 is implicated in tumor angiogenesis and bronchiolitis pathogenesis.
