DCAMKL1 (DCLK1)
DCAMKL1, also known as doublecortin-like kinase 1, is a serine/threonine kinase containing two N-terminal doublecortin domains (which bind microtubules and regulate microtubule polymerization), a C-terminal serine/threonine protein kinase domain (homologous to Ca²⁺/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase), and a serine/proline-rich domain that mediates multiple protein-protein interactions.
DCAMKL1 is a microtubule-associated kinase capable of autophosphorylation and exhibits microtubule-polymerizing activity independent of its kinase function. It participates in neuronal migration, retrograde transport, neuronal apoptosis, and neurogenesis.
