Target Information
This gene encodes a protein located in the endoplasmic reticulum that interacts with lectin chaperones calreticulin and calnexin to assist in the folding of newly synthesized glycoproteins. Although initially thought to be a phospholipase, it has been shown to possess protein disulfide isomerase activity. Complexes of this protein with lectins facilitate proper protein folding by promoting disulfide bond formation in glycoprotein substrates.
