Target Information
SMAD1/SMAD5/SMAD8/SMAD9 단백질은 Drosophila의 mothers against decapentaplegic (Mad) 및 C. elegans*의 *Sma 유전자 산물과 유사한 SMAD 단백질 계열에 속합니다.
SMAD 단백질은 다양한 신호 전달 경로를 매개하는 신호 전달자이자 전사 조절 인자로 작용합니다.
이 단백질은 BMP (Bone Morphogenetic Protein) 신호를 매개하며, 세포 성장, 사멸, 형태형성, 발달 및 면역 반응 등 다양한 생물학적 과정에 관여합니다.
BMP 리간드 자극 시, BMP 수용체 키나아제에 의해 인산화되어 활성화되며, SMAD4와 복합체를 형성하여 전사 조절 기능을 수행합니다.
또한 SMURF1, SMURF2와 같은 SMAD 특이적 E3 유비퀴틴 리가아제의 표적이 되어 유비퀴틴화 및 프로테아좀 매개 분해를 겪습니다.
