Target Information

TIP47 is a cargo protein involved in trafficking of the mannose-6-phosphate receptor between endosomes and the Golgi complex.
Mannose 6-phosphate receptors (MPRs) deliver lysosomal hydrolase from the Golgi to endosomes and return to the Golgi complex.
This protein interacts with cytoplasmic domains of both cation-independent and cation-dependent MPRs and is required for endosome-to-Golgi transport.
TIP47 binds directly to GTPase RAB9, increasing affinity for cargo.
It is localized in milk fat globule membranes of human and bovine origin, and is also described as a placental protein.
Elevated levels are found in circulation of cervix carcinoma patients, suggesting its potential role as an oncodevelopmental marker.
