Target Information
HOXD13 (homeobox protein D13) is a transcription factor belonging to the homeobox protein family. Homeobox genes are organized in clusters (A, B, C, and D) on separate chromosomes and are crucial for spatial and temporal regulation during embryonic development.
The HOXD13 gene, located in the D cluster on chromosome 2, is associated with limb and genital formation. Deletions or mutations in this region can lead to severe limb and genital abnormalities such as synpolydactyly.
