Target Information
Chemokines are small (approximately 8–14 kDa), mostly basic, structurally related molecules that regulate leukocyte trafficking through interactions with 7-transmembrane, G protein-coupled receptors.
They play key roles in immune system development, homeostasis, and function, and also influence CNS and endothelial cells in angiogenesis or angiostasis.
Chemokines are divided into two major subfamilies:
- CXC chemokines: first two conserved cysteines separated by one amino acid
- CC chemokines: first two conserved cysteines are adjacent
CCR10 is the receptor for CCL27, and CCR10–CCL27 interactions are involved in T cell–mediated skin inflammation.
