By Western blot, PA1-12724 detects a ~45 kDa protein representing S1P Phosphatase 2 from human brain lysate.
Target Information
Sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) is a highly bioactive lipid that acts both intracellularly as a second messenger and extracellularly by binding to the S1P(1–5) G-protein–coupled receptors of the endothelial differentiation gene family. Intracellularly, sphingosine kinase (1 and 2) and S1P phosphatase regulate S1P activity through phosphorylation control.
SPPase2 is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum, showing similar enzymatic activity and localization to SPPase1 but differing in tissue expression. SPPase2 plays an important role in attenuating intracellular S1P signaling.
