Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Alpha-1-Antitrypsin (Alpha-1-AT) is synthesized in the liver and functions as an inhibitor of proteases such as trypsin, elastase, chymotrypsin, collagenase, leucocytic proteases, plasmin, and thrombin, which may be released during inflammatory reactions in the lung.
Deficiency of Alpha-1-AT can lead to chronic obstructive lung disease (emphysema) and, less frequently, hepatic cirrhosis in infants or respiratory distress in newborns.
Alpha-1-AT levels increase as an acute-phase response to tissue necrosis and inflammation, and are elevated in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, vasculitis, and carcinomatosis.
