Product Specific Information

  • For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Alpha-1-Antitrypsin (Alpha-1-AT) is synthesized in the liver and acts as an inhibitor of proteases such as trypsin, elastase, chymotrypsin, collagenase, leucocytic proteases, plasmin, and thrombin.
Deficiency leads to chronic obstructive lung disease (emphysema) and can cause hepatic cirrhosis in infants.
Alpha-1-AT levels increase during acute phase responses to tissue necrosis and inflammation, and are elevated in rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, vasculitis, and carcinomatosis.
