Target Information

MPP5 (Membrane Protein, Palmitoylated 5) plays a critical role in neurogenesis and hematopoiesis. This protein is essential for establishing and maintaining cell polarity in epithelial cells and neurons. It is part of the Par-3 complex that contributes to maintaining tight junctions in epithelial cells.
Mutations in MPP5 are linked to severe neurologic impairments, including global developmental delay (GDD) and behavioral changes. In animal models, MPP5 is involved in early differentiation of multipotent progenitors and supports lineage-specific contributions, mainly in myeloid and lymphoid cells. MPP5 variants can disrupt normal cellular function, leading to developmental and functional abnormalities.
