This affinity-purified antibody is directed against human SPANX proteins. The immunogen sequence is present within SPANX-A, SPANX-B, SPANX-C, SPANX-D, and SPANX-N, but not within SPANX-E.
BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with SPANX proteins from gorilla and chimpanzee; reactivity with other species is unknown.

Target Information

SPANX (Sperm Protein Associated with the Nucleus on the X chromosome) family genes are testis-specific and located in a gene cluster on chromosome X. They encode proteins that localize to various subcellular compartments and play roles in spermatogenesis.
This particular SPANX gene product localizes to the nucleus and is highly expressed in metastatic cell lines, making it a potential diagnostic and prognostic marker.
As a cancer/testis antigen, SPANX represents a potential target for cancer immunotherapy.
