Product Specific Information

  • Antibody is tested in direct ELISA.
  • For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
  • For formalin-fixed tissues, heat sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 min before staining.

Target Information

This gene encodes an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of angiotensin I into angiotensin II, a potent vasopressor and aldosterone-stimulating peptide regulating blood pressure and fluid-electrolyte balance.
The enzyme plays a key role in the renin-angiotensin system.
Genetic variations, including the presence or absence of a 287 bp Alu repeat, have been linked to circulating enzyme levels and cardiovascular pathophysiologies.
Two major alternatively spliced variants encode somatic and testicular isozymes, both active. Additional splice variants exist but are not fully characterized.
