Product Specific Information

The 2B8 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD117 (c-Kit receptor), also known as Steel factor receptor or stem cell factor receptor. This 145-kDa tyrosine kinase receptor is expressed by hematopoietic progenitor cells, mast cells, and plays a key role in proliferation, differentiation, and activation.

Target Information

KIT (c-KIT) is a proto-oncogene encoding a type 3 transmembrane receptor for mast cell growth factor (MGF, or stem cell factor). It regulates proliferation and activation of hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells. Mutations in KIT are associated with gastrointestinal stromal tumors, mast cell disease, and leukemia. The receptor activates multiple signaling pathways including Ras/ERK, PI3K, PLC-γ, and JAK/STAT, and is essential for hematopoiesis, stem cell maintenance, and gametogenesis.
