Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

The human UNG gene encodes both nuclear (UNG2) and mitochondrial (UNG1) forms of uracil-DNA glycosylase. These isoforms result from alternative splicing and the use of two different promoters (PA and PB).
UNG1 and UNG2 cDNAs are similar in size (2061 and 2058 bp), and their mRNAs are not resolved as distinct species in gel electrophoresis.
UNG2 differs from UNG1 by 44 amino acids at the N-terminus, which are not required for catalytic activity.
The UNG gene products play a major role in repairing mutagenic U:G mispairs caused by cytosine deamination. UNG2 removes misincorporated dUMP residues.
Expression of UNG1 and UNG2 varies by cell and tissue type and is cell cycle regulated. UNG expression and activity are generally higher in proliferating cells and tissues.
UNG1 is a 304 amino acid protein, and UNG2 is a 313 amino acid protein.
