Target Information
Influenza A virus is a major public health threat. Novel influenza virus strains caused by genetic drift and viral recombination emerge periodically, resulting in pandemics due to limited human immunity. Influenza A can infect various animals, with all subtypes found in birds. These are classified by combinations of hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA) glycoproteins.
HA binds to sialic acid-containing receptors on cell surfaces, enabling viral attachment and internalization through clathrin-dependent and independent pathways. HA2 mediates membrane fusion under low pH conditions in endosomes, releasing a hydrophobic peptide that facilitates viral entry. Multiple HA trimers form a fusion pore essential for infection. This antibody targets Influenza A Virus (strain swl A/California/04/2009 H1N1).
